Jawar Al Khaleej (JAK Maritime) has successfully completed the refurbishment and handover of a spare SPM 4B (Single Point Mooring) unit for Basra Oil Company, further supporting Iraq’s offshore crude oil export operations.
This achievement forms part of JAK’s previously awarded—and ongoing—SPM operation and maintenance contract offshore Iraq, which supports the export of approximately 2.5 million barrels of oil per day. The refurbished unit represents the fifth spare SPM 4B restored to service after having been out of operation.
The refurbishment works were carried out at Albwardy Damen Shipyard in Hamriya, Sharjah, and successfully returned the SPM to full operational condition. The project was executed through close technical collaboration between JAK and Albwardy Damen, ensuring compliance with the highest industry and operational standards.
The refurbished Spare SPM 4B was officially handed over to Basra Oil Company on 12 January 2026, in the presence of Dr. Basem Abdul Kareem, Director General of Basra Oil Company, who commended the quality of workmanship and the technical expertise demonstrated by both JAK and Albwardy Damen.
This successful handover highlights JAK’s proven capabilities in SPM operation, maintenance, and refurbishment, and further reinforces its long-standing strategic partnership with Basra Oil Company in supporting Iraq’s critical offshore energy infrastructure.
